Maison et Objet Asia- Singapore

Hi everyone! I finally attended my first Maison & Objet, I was exuberant days before approaching the event. Mainly because Andre Fu and Duangrit Bunnag, two of my design idols were going to be there, up close and personal. (Did I mention I'm an avid hospitality fan?)
M&E isn't just a trade show but an eye opener for everyone attending the event. Five linear lanes of booths sectioned the large scale indoor exhibition at Sands Expo and Convention Centre.

Inside the convention was like an international buffet which composite western, eastern and asian furnishes. We sauntered down the pathway but stopped at every booth there was, taking our time to feast our eyes on the exhibits, analyzing them while running our fingers across their skins/bones. Each stop would be a routine of observations followed by demonstrations by exhibitors. Occasionally we had our own short but intense discussions about an exhibit, only to be pleasantly interrupted by the exhibit's owner.

We sat in for the question and answer session of Andre fu and Andreas Stadler and Country focus: Thailand, who shared with their listeners their inspirations and design principles, to be brief. Duangrit did a thorough presentation of the award winning Naka Phuket resort, unfolding his design process from inside out.

Love, Sharmaine.
